The British TV fan community was devastated a few years ago when tours of the Coronation Street set were stopped after they moved to the new location in Salford Quays. Plans have since been tangled up in bureaucratic red tape. I’m happy to report that set tours will now resume this month!

According to the BBC:

Public tours of Coronation Street’s new set are to begin later this month after a council approved the plans. Based on the success of the temporary tours at the show’s former site in Manchester in 2014 and 2015, ITV is opening the Salford-based soap’s cobbled streets and set. Pre-booked guided tours of the Trafford Park site will begin on 26 May, lasting about 90 minutes. Up to 1,500 visitors a day can be accommodated on the tours, which will be held at weekends.

According to the official website, you’ll be able to: “Wander through Weatherfield on a 90 minute guided tour taking in Coronation Street, Rosamund Street and the newly extended Victoria Street. Recall stories from yesteryear, hear filming secrets, take a selfie on the street and follow in the footsteps of your favorite characters down those Coronation Street cobbles.”

Tours run between 9am – 6pm on selected Saturdays only when cast and crew have downed scripts the weekend. Opening this May, availability is strictly limited and tours are available to book online only.

Here’s the online book site.
